WIN the chance to have dinner with SANTA!!!

With Halloween behind us and temperatures plummeting, there’s no avoiding the fact that winter has arrived, and that can mean only one thing – it’s almost Christmas!!

Christmas when you have children is a really magical time; watching their little faces light up with the magic of it all is almost as good as being a child yourself.  Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to Santa – and with this in mind the Molly and Mia Foundation has come up with a fabulous charity event for all the family that is guaranteed to get the grown-ups in the Christmas spirit and crank the kids’ excitement up to fever pitch!

In a new concept to Northern Ireland the charity has arranged for Santa, Mrs Claus and the Elves to host an amazing festive dinner party at the Armagh City Hotel on Sunday, December 11 and Monday, December 12 (groups only).  Watch in awe as Santa and Co. arrive by real reindeer before everyone sits down to a sumptuous three course meal.  Afterwards mums and dads can relax as kids are entertained by Santa’s helpers – creating fantastic Christmas crafts, writing their wish list to Santa and cooking up some magical food for the reindeer before they each receive a beautiful gift from the man himself!

There are three sittings on the day at 12 noon, 3pm and 6pm – and the best part is that MumUnplugged has one family pass for two adults and two children – worth £60 – to give away!!  To be in with a chance of winning simply leave a comment on this post telling us about your favourite Christmas memory or tradition.  The winner will be notified by email on Monday, November 28.  For more details or to enquire about group bookings for Monday, December 12 call Mrs Claus on 07504 681411.

About Claire

Hello! I’m Claire and welcome to MumUnplugged! I started this blog in 2008 following the birth of my son; I was bored on maternity leave from my job as a magazine editor, and besides feeling a pathological urge to just write something, I wanted to put my own experiences as a first time mum out there for others to share. I’m just a normal mum like any other – I have good days and bad days, days when I feel confident in my ability to raise this little human I created and others when I wonder why on earth I ever thought I could handle it! The most important thing I’ve learned from becoming a mum is that there’s nothing like advice from other mums who’ve been in your shoes – and I hope that by reading my experiences and those of others, visitors to MumUnplugged will find inspiration, advice and support for their journey through motherhood. Through my career in publishing I’ve also developed a passion for trend-spotting and tracking down the latest products so you’ll also find lots of news, reviews, fashion, topical features and much more. I really hope you enjoy the site – don’t forget to check out our forums (coming soon!) and keep your eyes peeled for great competitions and giveaways. If there’s anything you’d like to see on MumUnplugged then I’d love to hear from you – email mumunplugged@googlemail.com, follow me on Twitter, check out the Facebook page - or just leave me a comment!

What a lovely competition. My favourite Christmas tradition used to be leaving out a trainor sock as a tiny stocking for my favourite teddy when I was wee! He always had something in it on Christmas morning from Santa – usually a chocolate! When I say “wee” I did this right up till I was a teenager!!!

I am very lucky that i have many good Christmas memories but one that stands out in my mind is when me and my sister were little. She desperately wanted this baby bath set. My mum had told her that it was very expensive and that santa probably couldn’t afford it. She was very convincing!
So, on Christmas morning there we were opening our presents. i could see this big present that my sister was opening and knew that it was this ‘baby bath’

I still remember the look on her face and the squeals that were coming from her as she jumped up and down. My mum had tears in her eyes. i dont think she expected a reaction quite like that ! :-)
Oddly i dont remember what i got that christmas or any other christmas but that memory always sticks in my mind! im sure me and my sister had many fun hours playing with that baby bath.

    :-)

i was the oldest of six children so have loads of xmas memories, some happy n some quite sad….. we didnt have a big pile of money but our mummy and daddy always managed to pull of an extra special christmas even if it involved a big chicken that we thought was a turkey ;) we always attended midnight mass 1st and then got to open 1 of our presents which always turned out to be new jammies, we would leave out some milk and cookies for santa and of course the carrots for the reindeer, sprinkle the garden with our pre made oats and glitter and then get tucked up warm and snug…. it always took ages for us to sleep, so our poor parents didnt get much sleep any christmas eve. wen we would get up on christmas morning there would be little tiny shoe prints leading up the hall to the sitting room and often a little elf shoe had been left behind by our friend jimmy the elf….. i remember feeling nervous that santa may still be in the house and we would always wake our mummy and daddy to check that the coast was clear!!!! santa would always leave a letter attached to the door to let us no how wonderful we all were and that alone was worth its weight in gold. we always got that 1 special thing that we had hoped 4, even if our parents had to do without a new coat or shoes. im so thankful to them for all they done for us, the made all our christmas’ magicial….. now im a mother of five kids under 7 and no how hard it can be to keep up with all the expensive gifts that they would like, so i try to keep the tradations that gave me so much joy, and every year my whole family go to visit santa together all 22 of us :) xxx happy christmas everyone!!!!! xxx

My favourite Christmas memory isn’t of one particular Christmas…it’s every single one that I got to spend with my dad.
My dad died suddenly a few years ago. There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t think about him. Now that I’m a mum, I wish that he could have met my lil girl because I know that she would have just loved him and he would have doted on her.
My dad made Christmasses so much fun. He fully took part in Christmas and really made it the most exciting and fun times for myself and my brothers and sister. He truly was the best.
Now that we’ve got our lil girl, we’re going to make sure she has the best Christmas ever – not by giving her lots of presents, but by making sure she spends it surrounded by loved ones.
