Project: profitable

It’s been an exciting couple of days here; I am so thrilled to have the new blog design live and I think it looks really great, it’s exactly what I had in my head when I started daydreaming about running this blog as a wee business. I hope you like it too, that you’ll find it easy to use and that you’ll keep coming back!  From now on in addition to my usual blog ramblings, there’ll be lots more features on relevant topics, product reviews, news and also competitions – so don’t miss your chance to grab a freebie!

The site is also a huge credit to my brother Paul who, without turning this whole thing into a lesson in brown-nosing, is an extremely talented web developer, SEO expert and online marketer.  I may have a way with words but as far as blogging goes that’s more or less my limit, so he has a lot to put up with in terms of me frantically DMing him on Twitter because I can’t figure out how to do things in Wordpress – and I imagine things are about to get worse before they get better!

So whilst Paul has given of his time and expertise for free, he’s never one to miss out on an opportunity to swipe some traffic and, quite rightly, he’s interested to see how this little project will pan out.  Using his online marketing skills plus my writing skills, the plan is to get this blog from zero, where we are now, to profitable in as little time as possible.  Which will hopefully banish the unemployment wolf from my door and mean that not only can me and the Hubber keep a roof over Bubs’ head, but also that I can finally achieve a long-held dream of being my own boss and a working stay-at-home mum with the best of both worlds finally in her grasp!

If you’re interested in these types of things then you can check up on my progress over at Paul’s blog – he’ll be posting updates detailing the various tricks he has up his sleeve to promote the site as well as useful feedback on what works and what doesn’t.  And in the meantime you can help by visiting regularly, recommending the site to your friends and family, becoming a fan of MumUnplugged on Facebook and following on Twitter, or by re-blogging this or Paul’s post elsewhere.  Thanks!

About Claire

Hello! I’m Claire and welcome to MumUnplugged! I started this blog in 2008 following the birth of my son; I was bored on maternity leave from my job as a magazine editor, and besides feeling a pathological urge to just write something, I wanted to put my own experiences as a first time mum out there for others to share. I’m just a normal mum like any other – I have good days and bad days, days when I feel confident in my ability to raise this little human I created and others when I wonder why on earth I ever thought I could handle it! The most important thing I’ve learned from becoming a mum is that there’s nothing like advice from other mums who’ve been in your shoes – and I hope that by reading my experiences and those of others, visitors to MumUnplugged will find inspiration, advice and support for their journey through motherhood. Through my career in publishing I’ve also developed a passion for trend-spotting and tracking down the latest products so you’ll also find lots of news, reviews, fashion, topical features and much more. I really hope you enjoy the site – don’t forget to check out our forums (coming soon!) and keep your eyes peeled for great competitions and giveaways. If there’s anything you’d like to see on MumUnplugged then I’d love to hear from you – email mumunplugged@googlemail.com, follow me on Twitter, check out the Facebook page - or just leave me a comment!

    Good luck Claire.

I’m new to this being a mummy lark so I’ve only just starting reading your blog the last couple of weeks and I’m loving it.

it’s great to read a parenting blog that comes from a local perspective.
    Keep it up

    Emma and Isaac
