Oh, doobie-doo…

photo…I wanna be like you-hoo-hoo!  Bubs has discovered that it’s funny to copy and whether he’s parroting everything we say (recently heard words include ’sit!’ and ’sake!’ – Mummy’s potty mouth needs curtailing) or imitating our expressions and gestures, he’s giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘Mini Me’.  Today I was getting dinner ready and he was climbing up my legs to get a closer look at what I was doing when I had a brainwave.  I got a plastic bowl, a wooden spoon and a handful of raw macaroni so he could ‘cook’ dinner too.  It was so funny, he sat there going ’stir, stir’ and ‘Mummy – dinner!’ for at least 20 minutes, which if you’re not familiar with toddler attention spans is the equivalent of oh, say…an aeon.  By tomorrow I’m sure he will be like, SO over playing with macaroni but for today, it let me make a rockin’ pasta bake in relative peace :)

P.S. I am annoying myself with these smiley faces – they are a lazy solution to a killer closing line.  That’s the last one, promise.

About Claire

Hello! I’m Claire and welcome to MumUnplugged! I started this blog in 2008 following the birth of my son; I was bored on maternity leave from my job as a magazine editor, and besides feeling a pathological urge to just write something, I wanted to put my own experiences as a first time mum out there for others to share. I’m just a normal mum like any other – I have good days and bad days, days when I feel confident in my ability to raise this little human I created and others when I wonder why on earth I ever thought I could handle it! The most important thing I’ve learned from becoming a mum is that there’s nothing like advice from other mums who’ve been in your shoes – and I hope that by reading my experiences and those of others, visitors to MumUnplugged will find inspiration, advice and support for their journey through motherhood. Through my career in publishing I’ve also developed a passion for trend-spotting and tracking down the latest products so you’ll also find lots of news, reviews, fashion, topical features and much more. I really hope you enjoy the site – don’t forget to check out our forums (coming soon!) and keep your eyes peeled for great competitions and giveaways. If there’s anything you’d like to see on MumUnplugged then I’d love to hear from you – email mumunplugged@googlemail.com, follow me on Twitter, check out the Facebook page - or just leave me a comment!

One word Mrs, Gloop! It’s every toddlers dream. All you need is a box of cornflour, small amount of water, some food colouring and a large tray with sides. Put all ingredients into tray and leave your little man to play for literally hours and hours!! Warning…It does get messy, but think of all the other things you get done.

I made that stuff in science at school! I wonder if it’s safe to eat though – you just know he’d have to have a taste or six!
